Metro-East Lutheran grad Andy Wolff is McKendree's assist King

It was the finest moment of his career — so far, that is.

With a simple pass during a 94-66 win over Williams Baptist, Centralia resident and Metro-East Lutheran grad Andy Wolff is now the new career assist King at McKendree University.

Wolf passed the record of Breese Central grad and former Bearcats standout Tim Schumacher who played for the Bearcats from 2000-2004 and finished with 513 career assists.

"I knew when the contest started that I was very close to the record," said Wolff, who finished the contest with 12 points and 12 assists. "It is pretty cool to have the record, but it was not on my bucket list.

“When I am getting ready to pass the ball, I try to identify where my shooters are and read the defense. Then it is all about analyzing what the defense is going to give me. I just try to play off that."

Wolff has raised the McKendree record to 538 with one game left in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. After topping Williams Baptist, the Bearcats defeated Park University (69-68) in the final game of the regular season.

The Bearcats entered the AMC Tournament and defeated Missouri Baptist (81-74) and Harris-Stowe State (67-63) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
